Future and Legacy of the GAMMA Programme
Infrastructure Legacy
GAMMA has helped develop the following four new and advanced R&D facilities among the delivery partners which have assisted in the testing and developing of SME product ideas:
- The Virtual Engineering Centre’s UAS Synthetic Laboratory which simulates air traffic control in real time
- The Flight Test Facility and Sensors Suite at The University of Manchester where scale model unmanned aerial vehicles can be demonstrated, validated and integrated
- The Auros Robotic Operating System which reduces the risks and time involved in software development across devices/sensors
- And the University of Salford’s Ground Vehicle Facility for both indoor and out-door experiments.
GAMMA Working with the Wider Robotics and Autonomous Systems Community: having collaborated closely with the Northern Robotics Network (NRN), discussions have been underway to forge a programme that can build upon the achievements of GAMMA.
The Northern Robotics Network is an open network of people from across the north of the UK interested in robotics and autonomous systems. We organise meetings, events and networking for the Northern robotics community.
Building on the recent UK strategy for Robotics and Autonomous Systems, RAS2020, the NRN will identify ways in which the northern RAS community, through world class research, cutting edge companies and innovative application, can help drive the future of robotics in the UK.
We welcome membership (free of charge to individuals) from all backgrounds and interests. We want to encourage an interdisciplinary approach to robotics and autonomous systems, and to think about the many and various applications of robotic technologies.
Everybody from the large manufacturing companies, to casual robot enthusiasts are invited to join; please register on our _connect forum, and get in touch to let us know what kind of activities you would find useful to pursue through the network.
