Scenario 4 – Subjects of Interest

Subjects of Interest Project

  • Intelligence has indicated that an organised auto-theft crime syndicate will raid multiple sites around a city on the same evening, as simultaneously as possible
  • All stolen vehicles will be taken to a single processing facility, as yet undetermined
  • The Police wish to raid the processing facility
  • The NPAS contract a persistent UAV with a wide-area coverage capability to acquire and track the stolen vehicles as reports arrive, and provide live imagery to the unmarked police cars of the raid team
  • The stolen vehicles will be driven in a manner to foil apparent air tracking, so other NPAS aircraft can be tasked to follow

Subjects of Interest – Synopsis of Activities:

  • Conduct Surveillance of the Scene prior to the evening of the anticipated raid, collating surveillance data from which a Baseline Pattern of Life is constructed;
  • Conduct Surveillance of the Scene during the evening of the anticipated raid, collating surveillance data from which changes in the Pattern of Life during the raid are detectable;
  • Recognise Simultaneous Anomalous Activities during the evening of the anticipated raid, indicative of the theft of vehicles, with a view to the provision of intelligence to MAIMS-equipped tracking air vehicles;
  • The tracking of stolen vehicles confirmed by intelligence to be in the process of transfer to a processing facility;
  • The provision of intelligence imagery by tracking MAIMS equipped aircraft to pursuing NPAS Follow-Up Ground Vehicles, to enable tracking and recovery of stolen vehicles on the ground.
